Trent Park is an English Country House set in extensive grounds and in Barnet, North London.

Trent Park dates back to the 14th Century and was one of George IV’s hunting grounds. In 1777 George III leased the site to his favourite doctor Sir Richard Jebb.

After numerous owners, in 1909 the estate was sold to Sir Edward Sassoon. In 1912 the socialite Sir Phillip Sassoon inherited the estate following his Father’s death. He is renowned for the famous guests he entertained, amongst whom were, A young Queen Elizabeth, Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw and the famous artist Rex Whistler whose work can still be seen in some of the panelled rooms.

In the second world war it was used as a special prisoner of war camp for high ranking German Officers. What the ‘Guests’ didn’t know, was that the whole house was bugged and a great deal of vital intelligence was obtained and recorded by special German speaking Jewish refugees who were working in the basement. This information was then passed to British Intelligence to further the war efforts.

After the war the whole site was taken over by Middlesex University until 2012.

In 2017 the site was purchased by Berkeley Group and planning permission was granted for 262 new homes.

The Mansion House and the Stable Block having listed status were retained and in 2021 our Company was contracted to make the buildings structurally sound with structural alterations, new lift shafts, damp proof works and restoration of the original windows, cornices, plasterwork and new roofs using reclaimed slates from the period.

This project is due to be complete by 2025
