This interesting project on a large Barratt Homes development in Stonegrove, Edgeware, was to provide a Church/Community Centre for the benefit of the local community.
A modern ‘state of the art’ prayer chapel with a full immersive Baptismal Pool along with the latest Audio – Visual equipment meant that this Prayer Chapel was suitable for all types of events. A special part of the design was the South East Elevation in large Glulam Sails which were set at such an accurate position to the Sun, that on St. Peter’s Day a shaft of light shone through the Sails and onto the centre of the Altar.
Community halls a creche and training rooms formed part of the project and is now the throbbing centre of the new community. The Project was a Design & Build venture by Goldsmith’s who employed Sprunt Architects to carry out the innovative design.
Other areas of the building had a Danish glass fibre panelling detail and other’s Stone Gabion walls to give the building Texture and Interest. On the West side of the building a large Resin Bonded play area was created for the use of the various clubs which utilised the building.
