A refurbishment of 3 Victorian properties in Southend, providing a 24 bedroom Accommodation Unit for HARP, Southend’s homeless charity for a new intensive support centre for people who have been rough sleeping.

The project which has been developed in partnership with the City Council, has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Department, Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP), and other grant making organisations including the Bradbury Foundation.

The works required structural repairs to maintain the structures, and structural alterations to open up the combined spaces. The accommodation provided individual studio apartments, some with kitchens and ensuite facilities, Individual rooms, Communal Spaces, Communal kitchen, and Offices for HARP’s management. The basement of the houses were also enlarged by lowering the basement floor levels and adding a complete water proof tanking system, to provide additional areas for extra activities for the residents.
